Lodge Announcements
Cancellation of Meetings and Events extended
The cancellation of Lodge Meetings and Events has been extended by Grand Master Ronald J. Eggers through April 30, 2020. Attached is the letter sent to all lodges. This edict applies to all appendant and concordant Masonic bodies in Oregon as well. |
Grand Master suspension of Lodge activities
Greetings Brothers, Attached is the Most Worshipful Grand Master's announcement of the suspension of all Masonic meetings and activities until March 31st. In addition to this Grand Lodge announcement, I am also making the decision to postpone the Blue Lodge School of Instruction that District #17 tentatively planned to hold on April 11th. This is something that can easily be rescheduled after the virus is undercontrol. At this point, I still plan to participate in my Spring Official Visits and Lodge Record Checks unless the Grand Master continues to suspend Masonic activities into April or the virus continues to spread. For information on COVID-19 in Oregon, I've included a link to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) below. I respectfully ask that all Lodges in District #17 please distribute this information to your members by your usual methods of communication. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Fraternally, RWB John Lohrfink, District Deputy for District #17 |
IMPORTANT Lodge Update for March
Message from WM John Lohrfink: The risk of the virus still remains low, however most community leaders are practicing “social distancing” to include 1) not shaking hands with others, 2) cancelling large public meetings, and 3) being mindful to not be around those who have recently traveled out of the country or by air. I am aware this may disappoint some, but my intent is for the greater good and to protect the safety, health, and welfare of our Brothers. My intent is also to protect the long-term continuity of our Lodge operations. The risk of infection and potential death by COVID-19 is increased for those who are in the elderly population, those with underlying respiratory conditions, and those who have immunodeficiencies. Many of our Brothers are seniors, so hopefully this temporary action will allow time for the virus to settle down. Feel free to look at the OHA link below and E-mail me with any questions. Respectfully, WM John
